FEBRUARY 18, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

High-Priority Tools to Strengthen Public Health Emergency Legal Preparedness

Wednesday February 18th, 9:00 AM - 3:45 PM

Room: Harbor Island 3

Workshop

Session Number: 367

CDC’s Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response considers legal preparedness critically important to its grantees’ emergency preparedness.  CDC, ASTHO, NACCHO, and partners have developed valuable tools that state, Tribal, and local public health agencies and emergency preparedness partners can use to assess and strengthen their legal preparedness for all-hazards public health emergencies.

Participants in this intensive workshop will gain first-hand understanding of new and updated legal preparedness tools and will learn from local, state, and federal colleagues about practical approaches to implementing them. The featured tools are:

  • The updated training curricula “Forensic Epidemiology 3.0” and “Public Health Emergency Law 3.0”;
  • MOUs for coordinated bioterrorism investigations and multi-sector implementation of social distancing measures;
  • The “Menu of Suggested Provisions for Public Health Mutual Aid Agreements”; and
  • The “Social Distancing Law Assessment Template.”

Information about these and additional tools is available at http://www.cdc.gov/phlp.
